Respondus Monitor builds upon Respondus LockDown Browser, using a student’s webcam and video analytics to prevent cheating during exams. Some faculty will also require the use of a WebCam while using LockDown Browser for student verification during online assessments. Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Canvas. When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading. When students take an exam using LockDown Browser, they are unable to print, copy, access other programs/applications, take screenshots, visit other websites (except those specified in the exam setting), or exit an exam before submission. ![]() Similar to using Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari, when students use LockDown Browser they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications.
